2016? Least said...

Well, 2016 certainly seemed to be determined to cause as much damage as possible, didn't it? Still, this blog isn't the place for my thoughts on current affairs and/or politics, so let's get back to pretendy-elf-games.

I rather let my monthly review of spending/painting/gaming slip over the last couple of months but here is the full round-up, with Deadcember to follow soon in a separate post. Way back in January 2016 (when it was just Lemmy who'd left the stage), I posted my idea of "Geekstarting" my hobby year. While I've by no means fulfilled all the goals, it has kept me semi-focused in terms of my geeking.

[GS review] - September 2016

September; back to the chalk-face, oodles to do, the first hints of Autumn darkening the evenings... and the restart of my S&W group along with the renewed attraction of "indoor" hobbies. I even painted.

The overview:

[GS review] - July and August

I realised I never posted July's data, so here I give you a particularly thrilling double whammy of me not quite achieving what I wanted to , except to play more games! Lots more games, particularly Space Hulk, with my two little boys.

The overview:

[GS Review] - June

Half way through the year, June (and early July) rather got swallowed up by national and global matters so hobby time was squeezed to the point of non-existence. I did shed some excess lead, however, so my hobby budget is looking healthier. A bit.

The overview:

No painting pictures, I'm afraid. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. But thanks to sales this month I've now painted more than I've purchased. Yay for me!

[GS Review] - May

Nearly half way through the year, May was a time for painting more and spending less. My spending even went down!

The overview:

The pictures:

Bloodbowl has been the focus this month and, until I get my team finished, will continue to be the focus of my brush-based geeking.

[GS Review] - April

So, how is the 2016 campaign going? April has been a big month. Big project, big spending, big increase in figures bought.

The overview, with new style cumulative graphing:

Fancy, eh?

[GS Review] February

So, how is the 2016 campaign going? February has been a more productive month :)

[GS Review] - January

So, how is the 2016 campaign going? A slow start in January, it's fair to say, but February has already been better!

Apr 2015  -  £06.40   (2/12/10)
May 2015 -  £07.07   (-25/2/27)
Jun 2015  -  £34.00   (25/0/-25)
Jul 2015   -  £00.00   (-2/3/5)
Aug 2015  -  £00.00  (1/0/-1)
Sep 2015  -  £00.00   (1/3/2)
Orc 2015  -  £34.00   (27/2/-25)
Nov 2015  -  £22.04   (3/0/-3)

December 2015

  • BOUGHT - two OOP Santa figures from Wargames Foundry (+3 freebies!)  £4.00
  • BOUGHT - Warhammer Fantasy 2nd Edition (boxed, complete) £4.00
  • SOLD - a bunch (approx 160*) of 15mm HYW figures £36.10
  • BOUGHT - three oldhammer undeads from FB £5.00
  • TOTAL for December - £28.10   (-32/24/56)

Total net. expenditure for 2015 to date         = £182.68
Remaining acceptable expenditure for 2015 = £-32.68

In something similar to the LAF lead-hoarders vow, I'm also recording the number of figures purchased versus the number painted, which is what the numbers in brackets after each month's total represents - (net unpainted acquired/painted/net total for the month). *I'm counting the 15mm I sold as 0.25 figures for this purpose. So, here you go:

Net. unpainted figures acquired in 2015   = 25
Of which, painted to date        = 26
Total no. figures painted         = 56

Net. unpainted hoarding status 31

Yeah, baby, finishing the year in the green! For hoarding at least, if not for spending ;)

So, a whole year of keeping track. It has kept my spending down and I take a certain pride in having managed to reduce my leadpile by so much! I'm not sure I'll be quite so detailed in 2016, but I will keep track, if only to keep Malc happy!

Toodle-oo,
Rab

Oh dear... red figures everywhere. It was going so well and then I had a bad week at work, and there was a sale, and the bood-wargames classic dwarf kickstarter hasn't even launched yet... Ok, I'm weak. But if you're reading this, you're probably weak too. Well that's how I make myself feel better, anyway!

As I said last month, I should admit that I've spent a bit on the table I built, and am about to spend more on blue foam and other bits to create terrain boards. I'm not including it, though, because I sold all my re-enactment armour - thus one hobby funds another and still leaves me in the black...
