Colourful chaos collective

I've been carrying on (slowly!) with my haphazard approach to developing my chaos troops into a usable gaming force - I rummage through the bits I have and paint the one that catches my eye! Not exactly a purposeful and organised way of going about it, but perhaps fitting for the subject matter.

So, this time it was a couple of chaos warriors. The first from the inimitable Asslessman (hence the Gallic colours, suitably and chaotically rearranged), the next because he was the one that fell out of the box while I rummaged. To give them a bit of magical bite, I also painted up a CP Models fox-headed wizard. My plan is to have nine warriors and a wizard - seems Tzeentchian enough to me.

And then a group shot along with the only other chaos warrior I'd completed so far. This time I just cropped the image, rather than trying to change the levels so that the background was fully black - still plenty of fiddling to get a photo setup I'm happy with!

Hope you like them. I've got a converted/rescued from the junk pile standard bearer primed and black-washed all ready to go as the next figure in the paint queue...

  1. They all look grand. I especially love that fox-headed wizard! His pose and colour scheme really capture the eye -- he'll look fantastic on the gaming table. The Changer of Ways will reward you in due course, I am sure.

    1. Thanks, Matthew :) I knew that model would be perfect as soon as I saw him. Which reminds me, I meant to link to the CP store.

  2. A properly chaotic warband ! I love that apart from the wizard (who are always showing off) the others are tied in a subtle way rather than by having a plain colour displayed all over them. Really nice.

    1. Cheers JB :)

I was trying for a similar tone, if not actual colour theme, for the warriors so they looked like they belonged together, but weren't the uniformed blandness of more recent times.

  3. They look lovely, I'm looking forward to getting back on the Fantasy bandwagon once I've finished up my BFG project. :)

    1. Thank you, Peter :)

I look forward to seeing what you get round to. I'm rather thankful that BFG didn't grab me at the time as I suspect it would have been very expensive for me!

  4. Looking good so far. I really like the bases. I paint miniatures randomly too. I paint one that catches my eye on a given day. It keeps things from getting boring. I've recently started painting a Nurgle warband and having each model look completely different is very refreshing when painting an army. The colors on mine vary a lot, but the bases are all done the same so they are still tied together.

    1. Yep, that's exactly how I've been going about it for the last month or so after a bit of a dry spell. I've got two more to add as soon as I get decent photos as well!

  5. Your method seems fittingly chaotic. I couldn't resist posting a late comment because I wanted to say how good your photos look. I've yet to get the results I like trying for the uber black background.

    1. Thanks, Sean, I was pretty pleased with them. The final three for this unit of ten are slowly coming along. Hopefully over half term (next week) I'll get a chance to finish. Oh, and I really should get an orc done during Orctober....
