Cracking the W.I.P. (4)

Right, this is the one that's top of the list at the moment. My Chaos Pact team for Bloodbowl, specifically the team I'm going to use for the NAF tournament at Warhammer World in Nottingham on the 19th and 20th of May. This year. So only five weeks away. And I've got a lot still to do. My blogging might drop back to the previous low levels while I get them finished. Hmm...

Anyway, the state of play at the moment is shown below. I've got the three Big Guys (minotaur, troll and ogre) finished, although the ogre's base still needs flocking. Same goes for the goblin. I might go back and add replace some of the pink with bright green on sections of the ogre's armour to make him 'pop' a little more if there's time.

They sort of had their first outing last week when we got together for a game of BB7s, which, as you might expect, involves seven players per side. I won one game against another Pact team (after nearly blowing it by getting carried away with bashing rather than scoring, d'oh!) and then got pretty comprehensively trounced by an orc team. I like the models and the feel of the team, but I have a strong suspicion that their initial lack of Skills means I'll probably get hammered at the NAF Cup. Should be fun anyway :)

Priority for completion: pretty damn Urgent! They all need to be painted, based, varnished and dry by the morning of the 19th May

  1. Very nice! Not far from the old Lewis "originals". I've been away from BB for too long, is the Chaos Pact team legal nowadays? I remember it as a house rule thing, and I had a vast collection for both Old World, Chaos Pact and Undead Horde pact teams.

Speaking of legal, which rule set is the "proper" one for home use? I've gathered there's one from GW (the competition rules or whatever they're called) and another more shady version based on what Galak & Co had prepared for the last LRB that never was. Which one is cricket?

  2. Cheers Phreedh!

These are limited edition figures given out as prizes at the Chaos Cup in the USA (by GW, so 'legal' figures, as well as being cool) based on the old Lewis set. As for rules, the competition set is what gets used (mostly) at tournaments, but the Galak LRB 6 edition is what most folk use in their leagues. The NAF cup will use the GW set, but also allow the three extra teams: Chaos Pact, Underworld (gobbos and rats) and Slann.

  3. Correction: the conversions that Lewis made (the two-headed skaven and several of the marauders) are the limited edition ones, most of the others are out of production chaos figures from back when men were men and miniatures were made of lead. I got mine via ebay.

  4. Thanks for the lowdown on the rules! I still have many of my original 2nd edition minis, but had a large purge on TBB several years ago selling off my then recent eBay purchases. I now find myself buying quite a lot of Blood Bowl again. Actually managed to score a Troll #3 for less than a tenner last week! During the purge, I had sense enough to hang on to my Chaos Cup figs though, glad I did - they're going for quite a bit. Did you get yours recently or from Tom back then? I had to buy a teddy bear on eBay to trade for them! =D

Only painted one of the blighters yet, did Garak Grigolson up a few years ago, but recently posted him on

    1. I got them through Tom about four or five years ago as a set from his venture, Impact Miniatures.

Nice Garak btw, more 'real' colours than I went for!

    1. Thanks, Spiky. I have since found they're rather tricky to coach, but I'm happy with how they turned out.
