Slightly older hammer

No skeletons for you today.

I've had a good week or so on ebay, mostly gifts for others but a couple of choice bits for myself. I already showed you the copy of Ravening Hordes I got for a penny under £3, well now I got the rules for 2nd Edition Warhammer for £4. My Hammer just got slightly Older!

Box in pretty good shape - a little rubbing along the corners - but inside....

... the important bit, the books, in great condition, along with a roster sheet and one of the slann cut-outs

Ah, the galling bit - John Blanche and Gary Chalk posters on offer for £2.95, or miniatures for 30p.
Even using a Mars Bar Inflation Index of exactly 1, this would only be £1.28 per miniature!

I unwrapped this with my boys and they were excited "Can we play this, Daddy?", so I have hopes that my Slightly-Older-Hammer will end up being Younghammer as well!

Happy bargain hunting,
Rab

  1. Nice find. My copy is missing the cardboard characters, but for some reason seems to have gained som slightly mangled cardboard houses. Also mine included a different offer sheet, just for the figures but not the posters. Did you also get the introductory scenario with it, The Magnificent Sven?

    1. I was certainly pleased :)

The Magnificent Sven is still neatly stapled into the middle of Battle Magic, which is nice, and whoever owned it seems to have only read the Combat booklet - it's in really good condition, but the other two are pristine. It's rather endearing and redolent of the "gamers for gamers" ethos of the time that there is still at least one reference to "page xx" that I've found so far!

  2. I think I managed to grab my copy of 2nd ed WHFB for about the same price about a year ago.

    1. Yes, the copies on ebay seem to go up and down from a base of about £4, but the condition varies quite a lot! I'm happy with both the price and the condition and will definitely give it a go at some point.

  3. Best edition ever!

Never seen that flyer before, looks like some ace Dave Andrews art going on there. Goblin Lee has a copy of the Chalk / Dever Warhammer Poster - which appears in a few other places too. Fun times ahead!

    1. It's ever so slightly longer than the box which makes me think it perhaps was part of a small production run, or maybe just a flyer that got added in by hand (pre or post sale) at some point.
