Elmore giant - WIP 1

What's that, creating a meme picture about a toy monster that riffs off a 1986 film? Yup, that's how I roll...

Once you've had time to process my evident internet coolness and how down with the kidz I am (take your time, no hurry), you'll probably be more interested in the actual giant itself. It's the Larry Elmore giant from Darksword miniatures that I posted about a while back, finally released from its box, filed, filled, and undercoated. Damn, it's big!

"Fee, fo, fi, fum...."

"You lookin' at me?"

Yes, Snickit, that's a treeman I'll also be painting up just for when we next play :)

Family photo?
Over the next few weeks I'll paint him up, it'll be my "I'm back at work and don't want to be" distraction for the late summer evenings.

Why a giant and a treeman? Well, I had them already and they proved their tabletop worth at BOYL, causing enormous amounts of destruction everywhere they went. I'm also trying to paint more than I buy at the moment, with just that brief (but intense) wobble at Foundry a couple of weeks back. The "wobble" included the other stand-out unit from the Siege game - Robin Hood. It seemed apt given how close we were to Nottingham, so I picked up the figures for that, too. Fairy Power Spray has proved its worth and I now have some really shiny bits to start the unit, along with a couple of blister packs of suitable archers, but realistically I doubt I'l get round to them until half term

Friar Tuck and Effin' Masssive John

What are your "back to school" projects?

Sorry, old chap. Of course, you don't have to claim your prize...

  4. Thanks for the link Rab. Now following your blog. To me it just looks so much better to have the figure on a base that accommodates it. It really doesn't make sense to me in the rules why Ogres, Trolls and Giants are all on 40x40 bases.

    1. I agree - giants should be gigantic and so on larger bases. Following you back.
