Interesting that the green has come out so stark in its layering as it doesn't look like that in the lead to my end-of-term tired eyes |
This is one of the Feudal range of Citadel knights, sculpted by the Perry twins (so the armour is gloriously accurate). The horses seem small to our "heroic scale" distorted perception, but medieval horses were generally smaller than modern breeds, coming before the 18th century mania for "improving" breeds by careful lineage management. Even if they are a bit on the pony side of the scale, rather than warhorse, this fits nicely with my idea of this force as being from a relatively poor/backward county of the kingdom.
Now, back to the army for him to lead!

Another great job. You really are cracking 'em out at the moment: nothing like a deadline for getting the bit between the teeth, eh?
ReplyDeleteThanks Gareth - the deadline is firing me up and driving my wife bonkers! "Will you be this obsessed about your painting after your weekend?" is an almost nightly refrain...
Delete'...only if you keep whinging about it...' seems like the right response to the missus at this junction, although I'd imagine her response to that might be a black eye.
DeleteLovely to see him, though - looking forward to seeing the force on the day!
A black eye? A broken jaw and sleeping on the sofa forever, more like!
DeleteI'm glad _you_ appreciate my efforts, at least...
Really nice mini Rab! I'm looking forward to seeing your complete (for the purpose of BOYL, but not long term) force.
ReplyDeleteAnd the deadline is great for getting work done. I will be spending all of Monday and Tuesday painting, whilst you're at work. ;-)
